For 35 years he worked for American Can until retirement. Bud was very involved in the Wisconsin All Terrain Vehicle Association (WATVA) working as a trail ambassador and a safety instructor. He was an active member of Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. In his younger years Bud was a bull rider, he loved flying as an amateur pilot, and he truly enjoyed the outdoors, bicycling and photography.
Bud is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Hallie and Terry Schmidt, of Winneconne; one granddaughter, Holly Schmidt and her fiancé Derek Smet, of Neshkoro; a cousin, David (Alice) Wells, of Arizona; and many close friends and neighbors.
A Funeral Service for Bud will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 6090 Harbour South, Winneconne, with Pastor Phil Bogen officiating. Burial will be in the Winneconne Cemetery. A Visitation will be on Thursday, July 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, and will continue on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00.

Bud was a great mentor and friend for the past 25 years. He always had a great story whether it involved people we worked with or his many experiences in life. He was great at picking people up when they were down and always seeing the positive in things. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but the memories of him will continue every day. Enjoy your ride in heaven my friend!

I worked with Bud for many years and will always remember his 'happy go lucky' spirit. He always had a kind word and was willing to lend a hand whenever and where ever needed! We had many a fun time golfing together; just joking around, laughing, and being silly! My condolences to the family. Bud will be truly missed by all who knew him!
