William “Bill” Overton died on Saturday, July 15, 2023, on the same farm in the Town of Oshkosh where he was born on August 22, 1928, to George and Matilda (Bahrke) Overton. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and continued his work of improving the family farm. Bill became a Master Mason on March 27, 1951, and helped establish the scholarship fund at Winneconne Masonic Lodge.

On June 7, 1952, he married Lila Steffenson, and they farmed together and raised their family until her death after 64 years of marriage. Bill enjoyed moose hunting in Canada, and he always had time for a good "bull session." Family and friends were vital to his longevity. Surviving are his children, Susan, John, and Charles (Cindy); grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Berg, Nicole (Scott) Hilbelink, Rebecca (Marvin) Millls, David Blaauw (friend Evlyn Carley), KateLynn (Nathan) Schneider, Nicholas (Kristi) Overton, Matthew (Tana) Overton, Ryan (Brooke) Overton, Aimee (Dan) Klein, Michelle (Anurup) Kanaknhalli, and Kristin (Jason) Walker; great-grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Jessica, Wyatt, Joey, Greyson, Elizabeth, William, Sophie, Hunter, Skylar, Conner, Riley, Hezekiah, Dakota, and Bristol; and many more valued family and friends. Along with his parents and wife Bill was also preceded in death by a daughter, Katharine; grandson, Nathaniel; sisters, Mary Jane and Elizabeth; brothers, George, Thomas, James, John, and Paul; and brother-in-law, John.

A special thank you to Raymond for his care and assistance in Bill's final weeks.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 311 Division St. Oshkosh, with visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Masonic service and the Rite of Christian Burial. Interment will be in the Plummer Cemetery with a lunch to follow at the farm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Winneconne Masonic Lodge scholarship fund.

Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family. If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.

We were saddened to hear of Bill's passing when we arrived home recently. Aa a kid I admired this big guy with large gentle hands, and as an adult I've admired him for his commitment to family, his sense of humor and his keen, down-to-earth sense of life. Many fond memories of going out to the farm to see Bill & Lila and family where we always felt welcome. May the Lord Jesus comfort the entire family and give you grace to live full lives for Him.

A remarkable man who truly lived his life as he wanted. Leaving a historic history to pass on. Hold tight to your memories and share the stories. Words can’t express how tough this is for family and friends. Time will help… Hats off to a great Manureologist.

Thank you. I feel blessed knowing Bill Overton, Lila, and Kathy in my life. Kathy and I became friends from 4-H club, riding the school bus, marriages, and children. I know Bill/Lila's grandchild who married one of my close H.S. friend's daughter; small world. I have many memories with lifetime of education experiences, and giggles. Bill and Charlie even got me laughing at my folks celebration of life. Sorry for your loss. Love, Nyla/Ross Benedict
