Rose Ann (Sutter) Luce, age 90 in body, forever young in mind and heart, ended her journey on Friday, September 15, 2023. Rose Ann was born on July 10, 1933, in Neenah, WI, the only child of the late Fred and Lillie (Christianson) Sutter. She had an interesting childhood growing up on a farm and attended a one room schoolhouse for eight years; she then attended Winneconne High School and graduated in 1951. On July 18, 1953, she married Chester “Chet” Luce at First Presbyterian Church in Winneconne, WI. They enjoyed 70 years together. 

Rose Ann is survived by her husband, Chet; her two beloved sons, Daniel (Kimberly), Bossier City, LA, and Gary, Appleton; one grandson, Anthony (Danielle) Suarez, Eliot, ME; two great-granddaughters, Lucy and Louisa Suarez; extended family, Delores Luce; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rose Ann was an excellent cook and loved to entertain, she enjoyed doing calligraphy, did scrapbooking before it became popular, enjoyed lunch and visits with good friends, and most if all she and Chet loved to travel. First, they went to all 50 states, Alaska and Hawaii twice, plus the area bordering U.S. in Canada and Mexico. Then on to countries in Great Britain, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Switzerland, Italy, Spain Turkey, Egypt, Iceland, Australia/New Zealand (went over Out-Back in a hot air balloon.) They took several cruises on the Nile, Mediterranean Sea, Rhine River, Panama Canal, Southern Caribbean, Georgian Bay and several within the states.

A funeral service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church, 100 W. Capitol Dr., Appleton on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. Pastor Ben Morris will officiate. The family will receive friends and family at the church on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. The burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester.

A memorial fund has been established in Rose Ann’s name for the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or St. James United Methodist Church where Rose Ann was a member since 1965.

We will miss Roseanne as we have been friends and neighbors for 17 years. We sent a check to the Susan Koman Cancer Fund in Roseanne’s name. Our sympathies go to Chet and family. God bless!

Rose Ann and my mother were cousins. Rose Ann and Chet were friendly to my parents. They drove through a howling winter storm to Kodiak Jacks to celebrate my Dad’s birthday in February one year. They were successful, unpretentious and kind . My sincere condolences.
