John Robert Goska, age 90, of Winneconne, WI died Friday, October 27, 2023, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh, WI. He was born February 18, 1933, in Pulaski, WI to the late Edward and Loretta Goska. John graduated from Pulaski High School and Marquette University School of Dentistry. After graduation he began his active-duty service in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea.  When John completed his obligated service he returned to Wisconsin starting a private practice in Seymour, WI. He then re-joined the military entering the U.S. Navy. John served a total of 20 years retiring as a U.S. Navy Captain.  Noteworthy times in the U.S. Navy were being stationed in Kenitra, Morocco and several deployments to Viet Nam.  After his military career he taught dentistry at Marquette University and Northwestern University before retiring to Winneconne.

John is survived by two sons and daughters-in law, Michael and Angela Goska, Robert Goska and Kimberly Szpiech; a son-in-law, Michael Rheintgen; three grandsons, Andrew, Adam, and Alex Goska; his sibling, Ronald (Barbara) Goska; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn Jean Goska; his daughter, Gina Rheintgen; and his siblings, Francis (Evie) Goska and Louis (Pete) Lawniczak. 

A visitation for the family and friends will be on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Poygan.

Sorry for your loss. My condolences and prayers are with y'all. John and Marilyn were great friends I got to meet when they were part of the Winneconne group that helped serve dinner Tuesday nights before they all retired from serving the meal at The Salvation Army Oshkosh.
