Leona Marie Umland, age 91, of the town of Clayton her entire life went to her eternal home on Sunday morning June 17, 2018. She was born February 2, 1927, to Edward and Frieda (Zeinert) Schmidt. On February 22, 1958, Leona married Willis at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah. Leona lived on a farm her entire life, first the homestead on Larsen Road and then after marrying Willis at the present location. She worked at C.S. Hallock Store, Larsen before her marriage to the love of her life Willis. Leona then was a dedicated farm wife and mother to son Keith. She belonged to Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester. She was involved with Circles at church and a member of their Prayer and Share groups. Leona enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved baking and her raspberry pies were always a hit with family and friends. Leona also loved time with her two grandchildren and family.
Leona is survived by her son, Keith (Sandie) Umland, of Larsen; step-grandson, Lance Olsen; and granddaughter, Viktoria Umland; her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Gale Meartz, of Neenah; nieces: Karen (Gil) Herman, of Stoughton; Sharon (Phil) Zuberbier, of Appleton; Nancy (Todd) Ninman, of Middleton; Linda (Kevin) Kilsdonk, of Tomah; and so many other loving family members and friends, especially including Sue and Eugene Doell.
Along with her parents, Leona was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Willis; sister, Eunice "Lucy" Schmidt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Russell and Beulah Umland, Ernest Umland, and Ruth and Marvin Zuehlke.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, 8396 Steeple Hill Dr. Larsen, Wisconsin. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Connie Bramlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Leona's name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the Larsen/Winchester Lions Club.
The family wishes a very warm thank you to all the medical staff at ThedaCare, Neenah that took such great care of Leona during her final earthly journey.
