Charles "Chuck" Holt
Charles "Chuck" Holt passed quietly on Monday, December 13, 2010, with his family by his side.
Chuck was born in Reeseville, WI to Emil and Alvina (Miller) Holt on October 2, 1925.
Chuck joined the U.S. Navy when he was 18 and served on the SS Salisbury Sound during WWII. On October 24, 1970, he married Linda Carpenter, and they began their married life in Watertown and later moved to Winneconne, Berlin, and finally Oshkosh. Together they have two daughters, Lori (Alessandro Rinaldo), of Pittsburgh, PA; and Lisa (David) Scott, of Omro. Chuck has one son, James (Marla), of Lakeland, FL. Chuck has five grandchildren, Tiffany and Christopher Holt, Derek and Tyler Scott, and Sofia Rinaldo. He has one brother, Bob (Charolette), of Watertown; and one sister, Janice (Jerry) Blanchette, of Sebring, FL.
Chuck was a man of many skills; a farmer, a machinist, owner of the Riverside Motel in Berlin, owner of Holt's Construction and Holt's Encore Supperclub in Green Lake. He was a member of the Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church in Oshkosh. Chuck enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing sheepshead with the Dye's and Lee's, but mostly spending time with Linda and his family. His grandchildren gave him great joy and pride.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother Paul.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church, 1174 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, with Pastor Barry Yarbro officiating. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday (TODAY), December 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, and will continue on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Chuck's family would like to express their sincere thanks for the compassionate care given to him by the hospice staff, the nurses and doctors at Mercy Medical Center, and also to the Fresenius Dialysis team. Special thanks to Karen, Karen, and Rebecca.
