Evangeline M. Christensen passed into eternal life on Friday, January 7, 2011. She was born September 21, 1924, to Arthur and Margaret (Kregal) Becker, in Zittau, Wisconsin. Evangeline grew up in a large family operating Becker's General Store, Tavern, and Implement business.
In 1942 she traveled by train to San Diego, California to be with her sister Agnes and niece Carole. While there she met a young Marine, Maynard "Jim" Christensen of Sanborn, Iowa. They were married July 1, 1943. After the war Evangeline and Jim returned to Winneconne, Wisconsin where they raised four children, Maynard (Arlene) Christensen, of Almond; Becky (Cliff) Doro, of Wisconsin Rapids; Maureen (James) Sturm, of Manawa; Victoria Christensen, of Spokane, Washington. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren she loved, Alex (Amanda) Luaders, Matt Luaders, Kelly Luaders, Jason (Charlotte) Doro, Josh Doro, Case (Natalie) Christensen, Beau Christensen, Wendy (George) Tucker, and Steve Smith. Evangeline is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Victoria Graf, of Oshkosh.
She worked for many years as a credit manager for Sears, and upon her retirement Evangeline worked at Convergys in Appleton until she was 80 years old. Her two passions were reading cookbooks and gardening.
Evangeline and Jim were active life members of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Winneconne, and the American Legion and Auxiliary. Jim preceded Evangeline in death on September 5, 1996.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne, with Pastor John Covach and Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Inurnment will be in the Winneconne Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
"...I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2Timothy 4:7
Evangeline's family extends sincere thanks to the staffs of Hospice Advantage and Chase Court at Omro Care Center, and their new administrator Jonnie Janikowski, for their compassionate care of their mom during her short stay there.

I worked with Eve at Convergys for 9 years. She was a dear friend I regarded as the kindest person, so caring for everyone. A Christian person we surely need a world of. God has her in His hands now. She no longer feels any pain. Blessings upon her family.
