Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Michael Dennis McCoy
Winneconne, Wisconsin
Michael Dennis McCoy, age 60, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 16, 2011, after a 16-month courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on October 9, 1950, a son of the late James and Therese McCoy.
It was in Madison that Mike met and fell in love with his wife of 36 years, Kathleen Knudtson. Mike and Kathy made their home in Madison a few years before moving to Colorado in 1977. Family was very important to Mike and after the blessing of the birth of their daughter in 1984, they returned to their home state of Wisconsin to be closer to their families. Mike and Kathy have made their home in Winneconne, Wisconsin, for the past 25 years. They were blessed with a son in 1988. Mike worked and was part of the Castle Pierce Printing Company family in Oshkosh for 25 years, until the brain tumor diagnosis.
Mike was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Neenah, Wisconsin. Mike's love of God was very apparent and was reflected in every aspect of his life. Besides his passion for his family, Mike was an avid bicyclist and logged many miles riding the back roads and trails around Winneconne, road trips with friends, and back and forth to work in Oshkosh. Mike loved and missed Colorado and had hoped to retire out west.
Mike was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Alanna, Madison; son, Travis, Milwaukee; two sisters, Mary (William) McCoy-Wall, Dayton, Ohio; Colleen DeLaRosa, Madison; one brother, Andrew McCoy, Madison; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Tom.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope Lutheran Church, 1850 American Dr., Neenah, with Pastor Jeff Prewitt officiating. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, January 20 from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, and will continue on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Mike's family extends a special thank you to: Pastor Jeff Prewitt; Castle Pierce for their continued support and encouragement; Dr. Uhm and staff, Mayo Neurological Dept., Rochester, Minnesota; Dr. Klinkhammer and staff, Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, Oshkosh; nurses on Mercy Hospital subacute floor, whose kindness helped to make Mike's stay there as comfortable as possible.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant . . . Enter thou into the joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:21

Mike was the first friend I made when I moved to Colorado Springs in 1981. He was introduced to me in absentia by Bob Kranz. He came over to my cabin in Woodland Park with his beautiful wife and we became fast friends. We enjoyed each other's company because we both enjoyed the same activities and likes. It turned out that I had met his parents and knew them before I met him. I was very sad when he moved back to Wisconsin and we only saw each other occasionally since. I am saddend for his familly's loss. My sympathy goes out to Kathy and the children. I have many fond memories of my friendship with Mike. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
