I have fond memories of Alice (I always called her Mrs. Gavin). I worked at Winneconne Elementary School for about 13 years while Alice was on the staff.. I believe she was a fourth grade teacher. I was the school's reading specialist so I often worked with a couple of her students in my remedial reading small group classes.
Alice was truly a professional. She dressed professionally and always enjoyed working with children. Over the years I still thought of her from time to time. Her family can be very proud of a great lady who indeed did make big footprints over the years she worked in Winneconne.
