Richard S. "Rich" Fiala, age 66, of Winneconne, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton, WI, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 12, 1942, the son of the late Chester and Virginia (Buchert) Fiala. Rich graduated from Carl Schurz High School in 1962 and completed Wright Junior College as a mechanical engineer. Richard married Cynthia King on November 18, 1978 in Chicago, IL. Rich and Cindy and their family vacationed in Winneconne for many years, and in 1993 became permanent residents. Rich was an avid sports fan and boater, and because of his love of boating, he spent many hours at his hobby of building model boats. Rich also liked to travel with his family, vacationing every year, often on a cruise. This past year, 2008, Rich and Cindy enjoyed their 30th anniversary, celebrating with a two week cruise in Hawaii.
Rich is survived by his wife Cynthia, of Winneconne; one daughter, Jennifer Fiala, of Green Bay, WI; one son, Jeffrey Fiala, of Winneconne; his cousins and Cynthia's extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

We remember all the fun stuff we used to do together. Gatherings at "can" parties, dinners at the Duck Inn, Holtz's, Haase's, deep fried turkeys, Thanksgivings, Christmases, etc. We will miss Rich! Our hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow.
