David C. Kallas, age 72, of Omro, died peacefully Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh surrounded by his family. He was born May 27, 1947, to the late Vernon and Doris (Brown) Kallas. David was a 1965 graduate of Omro High School and completed the Agriculture Short Course at UW-Madison. From 1966 until 1970 David served in the U.S. Air Force, having been stationed in Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Guam, and Florida. On August 31, 1968, he married Linda Tritt. After returning from the service David farmed with his Uncle Les Kallas, and in 1974 he and Linda bought his parents farm in Eureka. While still farming David had also worked for Westra Masonry, Michels, and Tanner Equipment. David was a very social person, selfless, giving of his time to family and friends no matter how busy he was.
David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Kallas. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and they include: two sons and two daughters, Shane (Tanya) Kallas, Matt Kallas, April (Chris) Coe, Kim Kallas (fiancé, Chris Martin); grandchildren, Hannah-Kylee Kallas, David-Maxwell Kallas, Corinne Kallas, Tyler Kallas, Adeline Coe, Harrison Coe, Lily Martin, RayAnn Martin, Toby Martin, and Evan Martin. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Judy (Dennis) Fleck, Dennis Kallas, Darlene Malnory, and Darryl “Duke” (Mary) Kallas; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Fern Tritt; sisters-in-law, Vicki Tritt (special friend, Dennis), Cindy Olesen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Bill & Stels 3083 Cty Rd E Eureka. Military honors will take place at 3:00 p.m.
