On her 84th birthday January 1, 2020, Therese Ann Schmitt Witzke passed away surrounded by her loving family, and heaven received another angel. Therese Ann was born January 1, 1936, to her parents Delia Van Thiel Schmitt Procknow and Leo Schmitt. She attended Saint Therese school in Appleton, Wilson Junior High in Appleton, and Hortonville High School in Hortonville. Therese Ann married the love of her life, Dale Witzke, on July 21, 1956, at Sacred Heart Church in Oshkosh; they were happily married for 63 years.

Therese Ann lived a full life and touched many people's hearts. Community was very important to her. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Civic League, The Red Hat Society, and the Ladies Elks Club. It brought her great joy to be of service within her community. She owned Parkside Inn in Winneconne, and in 1987 she owned Holiday Florist in Winneconne for 13 years. Therese Ann loved spending time with her family, traveling, playing cards, playing Wii, playing the accordion, polka dancing, gardening, camping, and riding horses. She was affiliated with St. Mary Catholic Church and Lord of the Lakes Church in Winneconne. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

The greatest joy in Therese Ann's life was her family. She loved her family with her whole heart, and they were truly blessed to have been loved by her. She is survived by her husband, Dale Witzke; three children, Gary Witzke (Michelle), Lori Witzke Boe Brink (special friend Jeff), and Lisa Witzke-Frost (Eric); grandchildren, Alicia Witzke Tofari (Tony), Ashley Boe (special friend Jeremy), Brandon Boe (Chrissy), Tyler Brink (special friend Sophia), Kaylee Witzke, Gage Witzke; great-granddaughters, Makayla Dalton, Josephine Tofari, and Eden Tofari; brother-in-law, Jim Witzke; sisters-in-law, Pat Witzke, Janet Jordan; niece, Vicki Vandermolen (Pete); nephew, Scott Witzke; great-nieces and great-nephew, many cousins, and friends.

Preceding Therese Ann in death were her parents, Leo Schmitt and Delia Van Thiel Schmitt Procknow, Merlin Procknow; in-laws, Clarence and Esther Witzke; brother-in-law, Richard Jordan.

By far the greatest thing Therese Ann will be remembered for is how well she loved.  She showed her heart to everyone she met, and her compassionate, loving hugs made all who met her feel like family.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, January 6, 2020, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Lunch will follow at Kaudy Hall. Following lunch, the burial will take place in Peace Lutheran Cemetery 101 W. Waukau Ave. Oshkosh.

We would like to send a special thank you to the Oshkosh paramedics, Oshkosh Police Department, the Aurora Medical Center Emergency room staff, Mueller Funeral Home, Chaplain Steve, Holiday Florist, Pastor Kevin, Sr. Pam, and Fr. Anil Polumari; with their help and kind hearts, they helped our family get through this very difficult time.

If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.

Therese Ann was a very special lady, and I'm glad I got the pleasure of meeting her. She was a very kind person who touched many people in her life. I haven't seen her in awhile but often wonder how she was doing. I thank her for being my sponsor for Confirmation. God bless, her, Dale, and the rest of the family. All of you will hold a special place in my heart. Heaven now has another special angel.

I knew Therese Ann way back when we were in school at St. Therese in Appleton, and actually her dad Leo and my dad Clarence were related somehow--maybe cousins. Sorry to hear she has passed away.

Ves Gonnering was my husband and I know that he was always very fond of your Wife and Mom. We even visited them in Winneconne a time or two. My sympathy to all of your family and know that you are truly blessed to have had such a wonderful lady for a wife and Mom and that you have so many memories to carry in your heart. God's Blessings in the days ahead and that you will find Peace.

Although Therese Ann is my cousin, to this day I still refer to her as "Aunt Therese Ann". This was an endearment and respect. My mother, Theresa (Van Thiel) Kelly loved Therese Ann dearly and they were close friends. I am sure my mother was right there with Delia and all the sisters, welcoming Therese Ann. What a time, dancing and singing, they will all have together while watching over us. May God bless you each day with many happy memories to ease all your sorrows. Hugs and Prayers for you all.
