Ruth Ann Kallas
Omro, Wisconsin

Ruth Ann Kallas, age 62, of Omro, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 9, 1949, in Oshkosh to the late Arnold and Ellen Mae (Crowley) Lee. Ruth Ann was a 1967 graduate of Omro High School, and she graduated from cosmetology college. On July 18, 1970, she married Donald Kallas at St. Mary Catholic Church in Omro. Ruth Ann worked for the Feminine Flair Salon in Oshkosh, and for 17 years she worked at Kimberly-Clark before retiring in 2009. With boredom of retirement, she went to work for the A Moment In Time Day Care in Omro and became known as "Grandma Ruth", until ill health left her unable to work any longer. Ruth Ann enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren, quilting, cooking, canning, bowling, watching the Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR, and visiting local establishments to do the "sign-ins" and pools. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Omro, the Waukau Flying Mane Club, and had been involved in the Poygan Go-Getters 4-H club as a youth and with her daughters.
Ruth Ann is survived by her two daughters, Susanne (Ted) Schubert, of New London; Amy (Brian) Allison, of Omro; seven grandchildren, Andrew Kallas, Bobbi Allison, Thomas James "TJ" Schubert, Paige Schubert, Kalei Allison, Devin Allison, and Noah Schubert; two brothers, Michael (Nancy) Lee, of Oshkosh; Thomas (Christine) Lee, of Omro; brother-in-law, Wayne (Judy) Kallas, of Omro; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Bob) Gruetzmacher, of Omro; Jeanne (Sherwyn) Danke, of Oshkosh; Shirley (Dick) Ceelen, of Oshkosh; Chris Hanke and Mitch Pomplun, of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with her parents, Ruth Ann was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on May 14, 2006; and a brother-in-law, Paul Hanke.
A Funeral Mass for Ruth Ann will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave. Omro. Burial will follow in the Rushford Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, September 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, and will continue on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
Ruth Ann's family wishes to thank Dr. Klinkhammer, the Affinity Hospice staff, and all of her family and friends for all of the special care given to her.
