Viona Ginnow

Viona Ginnow, age 85, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011. She was born on April 24, 1926, in Nekimi, Winnebago County, daughter of the late Albert H. and Selma (Dobberpuhl) Horn.
On August 19, 1951, Viona married Russell Ginnow in Oshkosh and they made their home in Nekimi until Russell's death on April 20, 1982. Viona continued her residence there until she moved to Utica in 1984.
She received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and taught elementary school for 30 years. The last 25 years were in the School District of Omro.
Viona is a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. She was also a member of the Winnebago County Home and Community Education for over 50 years, Omro Study Club, Winnebago Retired Educators, Wisconsin Retired Educators Association, The Royal Raspberries Red Hatters, Master Gardeners, and Winnebago Audubon Society, Inc.
Viona is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Ken Plummer, of Howard's Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Jodi Ginnow, of Oshkosh; three grandsons, Matthew, Nathaniel, and Russell Plummer; and one brother and sister-in-law, Merlin and Barbara Jean Horn, of Waupaca. She is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edythe and Jerry Schreindl, of Oak Creek; and Marjorie and Dennis Luker, of Omro; and nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Viona was also preceded in death by her brother, Wesley, on August 21, 1956; and a brother-in-law, Edward Ginnow.
A Funeral Service for Viona will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Pastor Tim Routh officiating. Burial will be in the Omro Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
A memorial has been established to: Winnebago County Retired Educators Scholarships.
Viona's family wishes to thank the staffs of Gabriel's Villa and Bethel Home for the special care given to her.

Vi was a wonderful second grade teacher to my two sons. She left a wonderful legacy to all who had her as a teacher and friend. Sorry for your loss.
