Howard passed at the age of 97, having been born April 12, 1923. He passed on December 14, 2020.

He was raised on a Registered Holstein dairy farm by his parents, Louis and Jenny Beck, 4th oldest of 9 children. This led to his desire to create his own Registered Holstein dairy farm, How-Bex, near the village of Butte des Morts between Oshkosh and Winneconne. After a barn fire in 1970, crops and beef cattle became his farming enterprises, along with establishing a fruit orchard and pick-your-own raspberry patches. The fruit led to many connections with people that could share his produce.

Howard went into the Army Airforce during WWII in January of 1944 and served until May of 1946. He married Jane Timmermann of Oshkosh in Newport News, Virginia while stationed at Langley Field-Eustis Base on August 6, 1945, the day the atomic bomb hit Hiroshima. By February 1946, he was in Hiroshima to assist in returning service men, who had helped clear that city after the war, on a plane that he was radioman/gunner. On August 6, 2020, Howard & Jane celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with drive-by event at their nursing home.

Howard is survived by his wife, Jane; as well as his son, Nile (Carol); daughters, Nyla (Ross) Benedict, and Trudy (Steven) Resnick. He is further survived by seven grandchildren, David (Adrianne) Beck, Eric (Katharine) Beck, Abby Beck, Nissa (Ryan Whipple), April Benedict, Stefani and Maxwel Resnick. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Greysen, Harper, Hudson, Jackson and Charles Beck; two brothers, Russell and Armond Beck; and a brother-in-law, Nerville Sawall.

Howard was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Dennis; his parents; his in-laws; four brothers, two sisters and their corresponding spouses; two sisters-in-law and their spouses.

The family of Howard want to thank the compassionate staff of The Courtyard at Oshkosh and the compassionate staff of Heartland Hospice.

A celebration of life reunion is being considered in 2021 to be determined based on our health concerns. No services are planned at this time. Cremation has happened as planned. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.

Memorials are requested to be sent to his church, Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 6090 Harbour South Winneconne, WI 54986.

If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.
