David Herman Brennand, age 86, formerly of 433 Jefferson St. Winneconne, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. He was born September 21, 1934, in the town of Black Wolf to the late Lester G. and Katherine (Ruedinger) Brennand. He graduated with a 9th grade education. David served in the U.S. National Guard. On April 13, 1957, he married Irene Wischow at St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne. For 30 years, Dave worked for the Winnebago County Highway Dept., retiring on October 1, 1991. For 53 years, he was a volunteer firefighter for the Winneconne/Poygan Fire District, and for 26 years he was a Winneconne Auxiliary Policeman. Dave was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne. He enjoyed playing sheepshead, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and motorcycles.
David is survived by his children: James (Amy) Brennand, of Omro; Judi Brennand, of Manitowoc; June (Rick) Rubbert, of Neenah; Joe Brennand, of Winneconne; Jackie (Dave) Wiese, of Omro; Joyce Brennand, of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Lester Brennand, of the town of Vinland; two sisters, Katherine DeWitt, of Winter Park, Florida; Gwen (James) Bartels, of Omro; sister-in-law, Jackie Wischow, of Oshkosh; brother-in-law, Berniel Tritt, of the town of Vinland; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Dave was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Irene (Wischow) Brennand, on December 1, 2010; a sister, Lorraine Tritt; sisters-in-law, Carol Brennand, Phyllis Rosenthal; and brothers-in-law, Vernon DeWitt Sr., Gordon Wischow, and Elder Wischow.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the church with Fr. Kevin Ripley and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Omro Care Center, Park View Health Center, and Ascension Hospice for the care they provided to Dave.
