Katherine “DUCKY” Coughlin died peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2021.
From her birth on September 20, 1925, until her passing, she was very proud to call Winneconne home.
She was the last of 11 children born to Rose (Holtz) and James Coughlin.
Ducky was a 1943 graduate of Winneconne High School. After high school, she worked at various positions in Chicago and in Michigan. However, Winneconne was her home, so she returned to help her brother Jim manage his real estate and insurance office. She ran that office with a smile and a friendly word for all for over 30 years.
Ducky was a Charter member of the Winneconne Historical Society and continued her membership throughout her life. She was proud of the growth of the Historical Society over the years and the rich history of Winneconne that it provided.
She also served as Secretary for the Winneconne Chamber of Commerce and she was part of the Sovereign State of Winneconne Committee.
She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church
Ducky was preceded in death by her parents; and her 10 brothers and sisters, Marie, Fr. Martin, Edwin, Bernard, Eileen, Thomas, John, James, Rosemary and Patrick; a nephew, Martin; and a niece, Margaret.
Ducky is survived by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her family would like to thank all of her caregivers for the compassionate care that she received in her final years and thank Park View Health Center for her care in the last weeks of her life.
A private funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne, which will be live streamed. This can be found online at: stmarychurches.org, click on the St. Mary’s Winneconne Live Stream icon. There will be no visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.
It has been requested there be no flowers or memorials.

Aunt Ducky was a huge part of my family and a touch stone person for me as an adult. I will miss our weekly phone calls to catch up. Most of the time she was able to fill me in on my all my cousins, nieces and nephews as she always new what they were doing. As a child I went to Winneconne often and have so many great memories of being spoiled by Aunt Ducky. She will be deeply missed by myself and our whole extended family. I send my love and blessings to her.

I have known Ducky and the Coughlin family all my life. Delivered newspapers there when I was young. Always had a treat for the paperboy and a box of chocolate cherries on Christmas. I did many projects and handyman things on the family house. Ducky always called me to just change a lightbulb or to do the spring and fall maintenance. Sometimes it was just to check on things and have a visitor to gossip with. Her smile, knowledge of Winnneconne, wit, and humor will never be forgotten.

I had so much fun sitting on the front porch with Ducky and my mother when I was growing up. A lot of fond memories, thinking back to them puts a smile on my face. Such a wonderful lady, she cared so much about her family, friends and community.

Aunt Ducky was a loving thoughtful aunt and great aunt. She kept up with my life no matter where I lived and was always curious about our lives. She welcomed my husband Jim to Winneconne with a friendly smile and of course a delicious meal. I knew she liked him because she set the dining room table for his first Saturday lunch indicating it was a special occasion. Visiting Aunt Ducky in Winneconne became a Tomsheck Family tradition whenever we brought Cullen and Ryan to Wisconsin. We all have very fond memories of our visits with Aunt Ducky. She showed her love for family by loving all of us and keeping us in her thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for her presence in our lives and are sad there will be only memories of our time with her.

As a caregiver for Ms./Kathrine she was a wonderful lady,always was warm and caring to me as I was just one of her caregivers.we had a lot of laughs and a few tears,I'm proud to have known Ms/Kathrine and was able to care for her.she made me a better person.I know she's in Heaven looking down smiling
