Howard W Hess, 80, of Omro WI passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Park View Health Center, Oshkosh.
Howard was born May 5, 1940, in Omro, the son of Edward and Jenny Hess.
From 1963-1965 Howard served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was employed at Pluswood Industries for 40 yrs. and Oshkosh Doors for 9 yrs. until his retirement in 2005.
On May 10, 1968, he married Shirley Kikendall, who was the love of his life for 52 years. He loved to watch the Packers and NASCAR. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, deer hunting and camping. Howard loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed his bike rides and his walks around Omro.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Marti; sons, John (Jodi), and Mike (finance’ Ashley); grandchildren, Jason, Kira, Katelyn (Mark), Matt, Chris, Kelly, Mya, and Audi; great-grandchildren, LeRoy and Claire; his sister, Nancy (Fred) Brewer; stepbrothers, Tom (Kathi) Jones, Jim (Jackie) Jones; brother-in-law, Bill (Margaret) Kikendall; sisters-in-law, Dee Slovinski, Carol (Paul) Schraven, Rita Kikendall; and his special “BRO”, Gary.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, stepbrothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A service will be held on Saturday at Noon at the funeral home. Military honors will follow.

I recently moved back to Omro then covid happened . I worked with Howard at Pluswood for many years. He was a wonderful person and always had a greeting to make you smile. He was always encouraging to bring out your best person. I'm sad that I missed visiting with him and Shirley.

Always enjoyed exchanging greetings with Howard on my walks with my dog. I was always happy when I would time it right to cross paths with him. Sorry for your loss.
