Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Darlene M. Campbell, age 85, went to be with Jesus her Savior, on March 29, 2021, at The Waterford at Oshkosh due to natural causes. She was born on November 23, 1935, in Chariton, IA. Before moving to Oshkosh in 2015 Darlene lived in Burlington, IA for over 60 years, working at various jobs, but she mostly loved serving the Lord and loving people. She loved leading Bible studies, and playing the piano and the organ. She was the church pianist/organist at First Assembly of God in Burlington, IA for over 50 years.
On July 23, 1955, Darlene married Elmer V. Campbell in Burlington, IA. Together they raised two wonderful sons and served the Lord faithfully. Darlene was loved by all.
Darlene is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Kelly) of Lansing, MI; and Doug (Bernadette) of Oshkosh, WI. Her surviving siblings are, Lavanah Viola (David) Stewart of Rogers, AR; and Joann (Byron) Jordan of Gallatin, TN. Darlene had eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; and her brother, John Coons.
A private family Celebration of Life is being planned. Darlene’s family would like to thank all the staff at The Waterford for their wonderful care over the past 4 years. Also, they would like to thank all the staff at Heartland Hospice for their excellent, loving care and support the past year and a half.

To the Coons and Campbell family members: It was truly a joy for me to get to know Lavanah during the years I worked at the King's Daughters Home. From there I had the delight in getting to know Darlene and Elmer, JoAnn, Viola and Dave and to hear about more of the family members. Lavanah was so proud of all of you. I remember Darlene playing piano with the Praise Singers, taking me to church potlucks that had some of the most delicious food anywhere, and the enjoyable evenings when Vi and Dave visited and I was invited for Dave's home cooking, guitar music and singing. Those are cherished memories. I'll remember Darlene with all the joy she had for life, her family and her Lord. Love. Nadine Ibbotson.
