Kathy lost her fight to cancer on Sunday, March 28, 2021. During her battle with cancer Kathy stayed strong, never showing signs of weakness or struggle.

Kathy was born on November 26, 1958, in Chippewa Falls to the late Richard “Dick” and Patrice “Pat” (Pope) Roehrick. They later moved to Winneconne where Kathy grew up closely with her brothers and sisters and where she met Dave “Bert” Opperman. Bert and Kathy started dating shortly after high school and were married on July 15, 1978, keeping the love alive for over 40 years before Kathy’s unexpected passing. Together they raised two children, Mandy and Amy.

Kathy cherished her time with family and friends. She enjoyed hosting many cookouts and holiday dinners making everyone feel right at home. There were many favorite dishes shared at Kathy’s house. On a hot sunny day, you would always find Kathy outside enjoying the sunshine. She loved to garden and often helped her daughter care for her flowers. Kathy always looked forward to family vacations and particularly enjoyed the trips to Door County every summer. When Kathy found the time to relax, she liked diving into a good book.

Kathy was passionate about helping and caring for others. She worked most of her life at Park View Health Center providing compassionate care to her patients. In her later years, Kathy’s greatest joy was being Nana for Eliana and Liam whom she shared a very special relationship with.

Kathy touched the lives of many with her kindhearted nature and strong will. Although we were not ready to lose such an amazing lady, we will cherish the many wonderful memories and hold her in our hearts forever.

Kathy is survived by her husband, David “Bert” Opperman; two daughters: Mandy (Steve) Wells and Amy Opperman; two grandchildren: Eliana and Liam Wells, three sisters: Melissa Cottle, Rebecca Thomas, Mary (Ken) Mueller; many nieces, nephews, and many more relatives and friends who she loved so dearly.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents: Dick and Pat Roehrick and three brothers: Jim Roehrick, Joe Roehrick, and Jeff Roehrick.

A special thanks to Liz and the nursing team at St. Elizabeth Hospital as well as the hospice team of Ann, McKenzie, Cliff, and Kim who all helped care for Kathy and her family in her final days. Thank you to Kathy’s wonderful family (sisters, nieces and nephews) for all their love and support during Kathy’s last days.

In honor of Kathy, family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life for Kathy on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 12:00 - 3:00 pm at the Fin n Feather in Winneconne. Anyone is welcome to share a special memory or prayer for Kathy at the celebration. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.

If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.

Loved your family more than my own sometimes and you & Mary & your parent were the reason why! All your bro. & sisters were special, but you were the quiet, loving caregiver to your dad and countless others. I know you are sitting at the right hand of God, so try to behave! If you can't, He will understand because you were always the joy and strength in the good times & the bad times...one of His angels here on earth...You. are. loved. And, you will be missed but now you are free...enjoy your "Wings" until we meet again, my friend... Give Richard & Pat a hug for me.

Ohhh Kathy, I am so sorry ....when I think of PVHC, I always think of you right away. We had so much fun in a difficult and often sad job. You were part of my great team of CNAs and I know you are singing with the Angels because of the compassion you showed your Residents. I heard that you fought bravely, as I know you would, because of your determined mindset in all you did. I am sending you a "heavenly (((hug))) and wish you God's Speed, because you are home now. Love you...you little shit. Love Berta
