Jane Amber (Timmermann) Beck, age 95, long-time resident of the town of Vinland, left this world to be united with her Lord and reunited with her husband, Howard, on April 11, 2021. Jane was born August 27, 1925, to William and Gertrude Timmermann in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where she grew up and attended school. She wed Howard Dewey Beck on August 6, 1945, in Newport News, Virginia, while Howard was in service with the Army Air Force during World War II. This blessed union lasted over 75 years. They spent some time in Memphis, Tennessee during his service, where Jane worked as a clerk at Lowenstein’s Department Store. Upon Howard’s discharge, they returned to Oshkosh, first to live with Jane’s parents, and later a one of the Quonset Huts on 20th Avenue across from the Oshkosh airport.

Jane and Howard bought their farm in the town of Vinland in 1953 where Jane raised three children and helped manage the farm. After retirement from farming, she served as the town of Vinland Treasurer for 18 years. Jane and Howard also worked many years at the annual Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Fly-In, which takes place on land that was formerly the Timmermann family farm.

During her time as a wife, mother, and farm manager, Jane was very involved in Winnebago County and Wisconsin Association for Home & Community Education (HCE) (Homemakers to many) at both local and state level and held various offices. She was also involved with a group of close friends known collectively as “Kroweldeen”, which is needlework spelled backwards, although it was more of a card club. She also held the position of town treasurer a few years, for the Town of Vinland.

Jane was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh for most of her life. She and Howard became members of Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Winneconne after travel became difficult for them. Church was very important to her, as was her faith.

She will be most remembered for her ability to talk with anyone, which she practiced as often as she could. Jane had stories for every occasion and delighted in the telling. This past year of lockdowns and social distancing took this away from her and caused much sadness. Now she can share stories to her heart’s content with those who have gone before her and will have much to tell those that will join her in the future.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; brother, Nile Timmermann; sisters, Ruth (Melvin) Berholtz, and Carol (Bill) Jones; and two sons, Dennis and Gregory.

She is survived by her children, Nile (Carol) Beck, Nyla (Ross) Benedict, and Trudy (Steve) Resnick; seven grandchildren, David (Adrianne) Beck, Eric (Katharine) Beck, Abby Beck, Nissa (Ryan) Whipple, April Benedict, Stefani Resnick, and Maxwel Resnick; and five great-grandchildren, Greysen, Harper, and Hudson Beck, and Jackson and Charles Beck. Also, near and dear to her were brothers-in-law, Russell Beck, Armond Beck, and Nerville “Mike” Sawall. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, along with a multitude of friends.

The family expresses their sincere thanks to the Courtyard of Oshkosh, Heartland Hospice Care, and Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church of Winneconne for their care and support.

A joint memorial service for Jane and Howard will be held at a later date. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.
