Clair Mongan
Butte des Morts, Wisconsin

Clair Mongan, age 89, of Butte des Morts, died Friday, October 28, 2011, at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh. He was born March 5, 1922, in the Town of Poygan to the late Hugh and Frances (Koplitz) Mongan. Clair attended Winneconne High School and on November 23, 1946, he married June Peterson. For many years Clair worked for Courtney & Plummer and later was self-employed in the trucking business. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Clair was a devoted family man and enjoyed antique cars. He had a wonderful memory and was a masterful story-teller.
Clair is survived by his four children, Judy (Robert) Donabar, of Menomonee Falls; Donald Mongan, of Larsen; Susan (Joe) Mohammed, of Oshkosh; Barbara (Dan) Davis, of Omro; grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Ellis, John (Michelle) Hoeft II, Kimberly (Tony) Anderson, Leslie (Mark) Verkuilen, Danielle (Dale) Cook, Brad Donabar, Jennifer (Matt) Koeppler, Jeff (Nichole) Donabar, Patrick (Ashley) Davis, April (Ray) Ryan, Matt Mohammed, Troy (Kelly) Smith; great-grandchildren, Dominick Donabar, Kaylee Koeppler, Lauren, Mady, and Sydney Ellis, Jordyn and Addison Verkuilen, John III, James, and Noelle Hoeft, Mark and Tyler Anderson, Carson Cook, Damon and Tenleigh Davis, Joshua Ryan, Camden and Anna-Lynn Smith; special friends, Pat Barker and Diane Kruse; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with his parents, Clair was also preceded in death by his wife, June, on October 22, 2007; one brother, Hugh Mongan; and two sisters, Marie McDougall and Lucretia Dumdie.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. A Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, November 1 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
