Darlene Marie (Meltz) Davey

Darlene Marie (Meltz) Davey, 76, passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, October 27, 2011, in Neenah.

Darlene was born July 4, 1935, to Roy and Alvina Meltz. She was raised in the Winneconne area where her father and mother farmed. In 1955 she married Robert "Bob" Davey at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah. They made their home in Neenah and were blessed with two sons, Gale and Alan.

Darlene was a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook and take care of her family. Some of their best family memories were made snowmobiling to the Larsen/ Winchester area. In the summer Darlene enjoyed her flower gardens and lawn, she had a special talent for growing beautiful flowers. A passion that she and Bob shared was dancing to polka and old-time music. Darlene's love for music never diminished even as her mind and memories began to fade.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Bob; sons, Gale (Jan), and Alan. Grandchildren include Cory and Samantha Davey, Alec and Isac Davey; and great-grandchild, Maxwell Davey. Sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and John Thiel; niece, Sarah; nephew, Kevin; and special friend, Carol Hale also survive her.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alvina Meltz; and mother-in-law and father-in-law Harry and Margaret Davey.

Darlene's family gives special thanks to all of the caring staff at Island Shores, especially "the twins" and Stacy. Loving appreciation to Heartland Hospice care-giver "Barb" who provided comfort and guidance to our family as Darlene's journey on earth concluded and her new journey in heaven begins.

A private funeral service was held on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne. Entombment is in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for Heartland Hospice.
