Michael "Carp" Koerner
Boom Bay, WI

Michael "Carp" Koerner, age 70, of Boom Bay, entered into the hands of God on Friday, November 25, 2011, at home with his loving family at his side. Mike is again with his wife Darlene, who preceded him in death on March 20, 2011. He was born February 12, 1941, in Menasha, to the late Martin and Anna (Freund) Koerner. Mike was a graduate of Menasha High School. On February 11, 1961, Mike married Darlene "Butchie" Westphal at St Therese Catholic Church in Appleton and they were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage this year. Since 1971 Mike and Darlene had made their home in Boom Bay. For 30 years he was employed with AstenJohnson in Appleton until his retirement. "Carp" was an avid fisherman and hunter, and was an active member of the Lake Poygan Sportsmen's Club. He was notorious for smokehouse talents of chicken and fish. Mike enjoyed watching and feeding the deer in his yard, trapping, shooting pool in a league, Packer games, NASCAR races, and he especially enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and family.
Mike is survived by three daughters, DeAnna Foate (fiancé, Andy Null), of Boom Bay; Dawn (Michael) Bronold, of Appleton; Doreen (Daniel) Gill, of Hortonville; six grandchildren, Travis Gill, Jacob Gill, Bradley Foate, Ryan Foate, Mandee Foate, and Lisa Finkler; sisters and brothers, Lucy Edwards, of Neenah; Frank (Judy) Koerner, of Menasha; Sharon (Joe) Kryszak, of Maple Park, Illinois; Chris (Don) Laeyendecker, of Menasha; Dan (Debbie) Koerner, of Menasha; Norma (Dennis) Troudt, of Neenah; Vicki (Steve) Loehning, of Neenah; Debbie Slomski, of Neenah; and Philip Koerner, of Neenah; sister-in-law, Audrey Kappell, of Kaukauna; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife Darlene, Mike was also preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Koerner Westphal; and one brother, Steven Koerner.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Pastor Gordon Lane officiating. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
