Charles W. Luce
Winneconne, Wisconsin

Charles W. Luce, age 85, of Winneconne, died peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Park View Health Center, Oshkosh. He was born in Highbridge, Wisconsin on October 16, 1926, to the late Elliott and Ruth Luce.
Charles and his family were members of truly the greatest generation ever, surviving the struggles of the Great Depression and the devastation of World War II, and losing his brother William to the war. Charles followed his brothers Allen and William into the war as many patriotic Americans of his generation did. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
For 40 years Charles was a laborer in construction, the majority of the time spent with the Ben Ganther Construction Company. He is a life member of Laborer's International Union of North America and the International Union Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. He retired from work in 1988.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores; four children, David (Joni) Luce, Carrie Ann (Larry) Daniels, Warren (Candy) Luce, Peter (special friend, Lynn) Luce; brother, Chester (RoseAnn) Luce; sister-in-law, Mary Luce; and many other relatives.
Along with his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by three brothers, Allen, William, and Donald; three sisters, Francelia Hintz, Ruth Ann Zahn, and Nona Blank; a very special brother-in-law, Clarence Hintz; sister-in-law, Mary Luce; and brother-in-law, Richard Blank.
Charles worked hard during his life, never complaining about the hardships, providing for his family as best he could. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.
A service celebrating Charles' life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 32 S. Third Ave. Winneconne, on Friday, December 9, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mara Rivera officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Winneconne Cemetery at a later date. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oshkosh Humane Society or the First Presbyterian Church, Winneconne.
The Luce family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Jim Decker and the wonderful staff at Park View-Parkside 2 North. Your care and compassion with our father will never be forgotten.
A special thank you goes to the Laborers International Union Local 330 for the years of representing our father, which allowed him to support his family and their future, as well as recognizing his years of service and loyal membership.
