Arthur R. Ehmke, age 83, of Omro, was born into eternal life on Friday, December 16, 2011, at the Omro Care Center. He was born May 14, 1928, in Athens, Wisconsin to the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Welbes) Ehmke, and grew up in Medford. Art served his country in the U.S. Army. On May 19, 1951, he and Carol Pratt were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Omro by Rev. H.D. Boyer. Art was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro.
Art is survived by his children, Nancy (John) Griedl, Bob (Jackie) Ehmke, all of Omro; Janet (David) Zerbe, Karen (James) Anderson, all of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Scott Griedl (Gina Jourdan), Randy (Monica) Griedl, Shannon and Jacob Ehmke, Andrea (Brad) Albright, Leslie (Ryan) Guilette, Alexander and Quincy Anderson; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Karoline, Aubrey, Anna, Isabella, Ava, and Sophia; two sisters, Lila Roubison, Ruth Riddle; and other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Arthur was also preceded in death by his wife Carol on May 1, 2009; and one grandson, Gabriel Anderson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave. Omro, with Pastor Richard Bartholomew officiating. Military honors will follow. Inurnment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah at a later date. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Grace Lutheran Church, Omro.

We will miss Art greatly. It was always nice to see him walk through the door at the barbershop, he kept us up to date on most of Omro's doings. We are with you in heart and mind during this hard time. If there is anything we can do, please don't hesitate to ask. Sorry that we were unable to come and say this in person.
