Florence Mae Folske

Mom took her last breath; the Lord took her hand and took her home.
Mom passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the age of 90, at Crestwood Senior Living Adare II in Menasha where she had been a resident since January 2007.
She was born on March 20, 1919, in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of the late Adolph and Agnes Hovelson. On March 29, 1938, she married Reuben G. Folske at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She was a member of St. Paul's' Ev. Lutheran Church in Winneconne.
She is survived by her children, Reuben and Diane Folske, Neenah; Sharon and Bob Bauer, Greenville; Jeanne and Ron Pavlak, Larsen; Sandy Meyer, Neenah; eight grandchildren, Randy Bauer, Amy (Peter) Kramer, Scott (Lori) Bauer, Ann (Chris) Klepps, Jessica (Kevin) Neuman, Wendy Lom, Jenny Folske and Angela (Eric) Zanto; eight great-grandchildren, Peter and Cassie Kramer, Ashley Klepps, Paige and Caleb Bauer, Gabi and Hannah Neuman, and Owyn Zanto; "Adopted daughter" Mary Kay Arendt; Dave Meyer; and her cat Nipsey. She is further survived by her brother; Gordon (Mort) Downey, Fond du Lac; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Ruby Folske, Albertina "Tootie" Smick, and Arlene Folske, all of Oshkosh; and many "nicey" nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Reuben; her parents, Adolph and Agnes (Downey) Hovelson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Hadwig Folske; two great-granddaughters; Amanda and Katherine Kramer; her sisters, Dolores (Lionel) Joas, Lillian (Norman) Moffatt, Mary Jane (Leonard) Higgins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harry Folske, Richard (Phyllis) Folske, Herman (Lenora) Folske, William Folske, Ruth (Alley) Bahr, Lydia (Edward) Bauer, and LaVern Smick.
Mom's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was a great homemaker who enjoyed baking for her friends and family. She will be remembered for her famous apple slices, Christmas candies and cookies and her expansive Christmas Village of which she was so proud. She loved to dance, play Canasta, Hand & Foot and crochet afghans for her family. We will always fondly remember her as "Gramma Cootie" and "the towel lady".
Mom had a great sense of humor and always had a rhyme or story to relate to all who came to see her. She will always be remembered as her stories, rhymes and funny sayings are passed on such as "Here's where the cat sits...." and "Here's the church, here's the steeple ...."
Our family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Mom's Guardian Angels at Crestwood Senior Living; Kattie "Katie Did", Kelly "Shortie", Shannon, Ashley, Amy, Kelli, Peggi, Jessica, Tiffany, Terri, Lisa "Little Red", Arianne, Michelle, Julianne, Michelle, Dawn and Dr. Steve Hagen for their compassionate and gentle care. Also to Mary Kay who helped care for Mom as if she were her own. Our thanks also go out to Pastor Mark Albrecht and Pastor John Covach for their many visits. And, not to be forgotten, Charlie, the resident cat, who stayed by Mom's side up to the end.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne, with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in the Burdick Cemetery in the Town of Rushford. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Mom finally found the road that Dad was travelling on and joined him in yet another journey. We will miss her dearly.
Don't say "good-bye" ... say "so long"
"So long Mom" - love, the Kids

Yes, truly indeed a remarkable lady as well as a very special aunt. She cared for us dearly during our time of loss of our parents Herman and Lenora. She was our mom's favorite sister-in-law. We enjoyed visiting with her several times at the home and listening to her stories and tales. We also learned to say 'so long'. 'So long' dear aunt and a many loved ones are welcoming you home. Love ya!

I have fond childhood memories of having fun on your farm and many family get-togethers as I was growing up. Rest in peace, Aunt Florence. You will be missed.
