Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Richard P. Erpelding, age 85, formerly of Butte des Morts, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King. He was born in Milwaukee to the late George and Frances (Rademacher) Erpelding. Dick served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On September 30, 1950, he married Martha Ryser in Cudahy, Wisconsin, and they made their home in South Milwaukee until 1970, at which time they moved to the east coast. For many years Dick worked for Catholic Book & Supply and Dick and Flo's Tavern in South Milwaukee. In 1967, he started working for Toys R Us as a store manager, and he retired in 1989 as the Corporate Building Supervisor in New Jersey. Upon his retirement, Dick and Martha moved to Butte des Morts. He was a member of the Butte des Morts Lions Club, and he enjoyed socializing with friends.
Dick is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Joyce Erpelding, of Wisconsin Rapids; two daughters, Connie Erpelding, and her friend Dick Kalbus, of Butte des Morts; Carrie Bruce, of Texas; grandchildren, Michelle and Dana McCormick, stationed in Guam; Richard A. Erpelding, of Madison; Robert Bruce, of Texas; Connie and Peter Taff, of Appleton; great-grandchildren, Garrett Weisbrot, Katrina and Ryan McCormick, all of Guam; Trenton, Hunter, and Richard Taff, all of Appleton; one sister, Bea Johnson; one brother, George (Alberta) Erpelding; and dear friend, Sue Kimball.
Along with his parents, Dick was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Martha Erpelding on April 27, 2001; and one sister, Ruth (Bob) McConnell.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
A memorial has been established for the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King.
