Robert F. Gruetzmacher, age 81, of Omro, died Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, with his family by his side.
He was born January 22, 1931, in Oshkosh to the late Frederick and Anna (Gomoll) Gruetzmacher. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Oshkosh High School. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until 1954, serving on the USS Moale and the USS A.T. Harris. On July 2, 1955, Bob married Marilyn Kallas at St. Mary Catholic Church in Omro. For over 40 years, he worked at Morgan Door Products in Oshkosh until his retirement. Bob was very active in Boy Scouts for over 20 years, and was a member of the American Legion Post 234, where he was a past commander. He liked playing golf, hunting, fishing, and he really enjoyed playing cards. Bob loved spending time with his family and truly enjoyed Sunday birthday gatherings at his home. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Omro, and the Upper Lakes Fishing Club.
Bob was loved by his whole family and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Gruetzmacher, of Omro; three sons, Daniel (Mary) Gruetzmacher, of Omro; Kirk (Cindy) Gruetzmacher, of Redgranite; Jon (Tracy) Gruetzmacher, of Oshkosh; his grandchildren, Danelle (Brad) Karpinsky, Megan (Matt) Marchant, Kyle, Cory, Austin (Ashley), Bradley, Kevin, and Steven Gruetzmacher; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet (Clyde) Friedman, of Deerfield, Illinois; Ruth (John) Clark, of Oshkosh; brother-in-law, Wayne (Judy) Kallas, of Omro; sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Sherwyn) Danke, of Oshkosh; Shirley (Dick) Ceelen, of Oshkosh; Chris Hanke (Mitch Pomplun), of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Along with his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Myrtle Kallas; and two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Donald and Ruth Ann Kallas, and Paul Hanke.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 730 Madison Ave., Omro, with Fr. Doug LeCaptain officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rushford Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, August 15 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Love ya brother and sure am glad i had you as a brother, you used to watch out for me as we were growing up and that was a precious thing i remember besides a lot of other beautiful things and especially dad and you and john and some of the boys playing cards in the garage before you all went to the mag to shoot pool. that is were we first met john and i and you had been friends with john for many many years. i can only say thank you for all your tender love respect and compassion you always had for all of us. God was and still is good to all of us and know that you are not gone you are here by my side always, you will never be forgotten and praise God for his tender loving care all these years and especially the last months and that Marilyn loved you so much and gave all to you and you gave in return all you had to give. we will miss the voice and body but know that peace and love from all those who were waiting for you to come home have rejoiced not only with you but with all of us in His and your special way.
