On October 25, 1958, he married Nancy Jean Engelke in Oshkosh. After retirement he worked for Odd Jobs People in Winneconne.
Monte had been a member of the Winneconne Men's Club, and had served as a Scout Master for the Winneconne Boy Scouts, also earning a scout wood badge. He enjoyed wood working, cribbage, gardening, camping, golfing, and bowling.
Monte is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Jean Engelke Harrison, of Winneconne; three sons, Ronald (Debra) Harrison, of Marinette; Jeffrey (Sue) Harrison, of Dudley, North Carolina; Allen (Diane) Harrison, of Oshkosh; one daughter, Jessica Harrison, of Winneconne; grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Timothy, Carrie Anne, Amy Lynn, Benjamin, and Christopher Harrison; two great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, Monte was preceded in death by four brothers, Foster "Ted", William, Durl, and Charles Harrison.
A celebration service will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, with Pastor Mara Rivera officiating. A tribute to a veteran service will follow. A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for amyloidosis research at Froedtert Medical College.
Monte's family extends special thanks to Dr. Karen Gremminger and her caring staff, also "Lonna" who was our angel the last 2 weeks. We only made it because of all of you.

Dear Nancy & Family, I am sad, for you all, to hear of Monte's passing. He and my father worked together many years and were great pals. I thought Monte was a real swell guy. Thursday was a good day for my father, as he also welcomed his youngest brother to heaven, along with his dear friend. My sincerest sympathies to you.
