Mavis M. (Betts) Longworth, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at her Butte des Morts home.
She was born on February 21, 1931, in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late William M. and Lottie M. (Pratt) Betts. Mavis was a graduate of Oshkosh High School.
On December 3, 1949, she married Donald G. Longworth and they just celebrated 63 years of marriage. Mavis and Don raised their family in the town of Poygan, before building their home in Butte des Morts in 1979, where they presently reside. She enjoyed her time with her family which included family picnics, camping trips, and fishing with her husband. Mavis was always there for all her family.
She enjoyed bowling on her women's league, outings with her friends in her earlier years, her flowers beds, gardening, and bird watching.
Mavis is survived by her husband, Donald Longworth; ten children, Karen Fink, of Oshkosh; Terry (Jack) Zeller, of Oshkosh; Jim (Colleen) Longworth, of Oshkosh; Penny (Dennis) Piper, of Neshkoro; Barbara Kaiser, of Oshkosh; Patti (David) Berndt, of Poygan; Kim (John) Clark, of Poygan; John Longworth, of Omro; Judy (Tom) Schmude, of Cambridge; and Kelly Parish, of Oshkosh; twenty-seven grandchildren; and thirty-three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, Mary Ann Betts, of Tennessee; Audrey Betts, or Oshkosh; Leslie and Shirley Loker, of Oshkosh; Larry and Charlene Longworth, of Omro; Arden and Marge Longworth, of Omro; Jack and Sharon Spiegelberg, of Winneconne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along her parents, Mavis was preceded in death by one sister, Opal Panske; and two brothers, Boyd and Gordon Betts.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A private graveside service will be held at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
