Mary-Frances Margaret Stokes-Jansen

Mary-Frances Margaret Stokes-Jansen, age 71, of Allenville, passed away on Tuesday April 13, 2021, from complications of Lewy Body Dementia after a short stay at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. She was born August 30, 1949, to the late Dick and Emily (Bevier) Stokes of High Falls, New York.

“Peg”, or “Maggie” as she was known, married Bob Jansen on September 30, 1988. For 33 years, they relished their lives together on their land in Allenville surrounded by their numerous pets, family and friends.

For most of her professional life, Peg, a highly regarded and talented elementary school teacher, brought her spirit and inspiration to the 1st, 3rd and 5th graders she taught for her 33 years in the Neenah School District.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, of Allenville; her brother, Dick (Juliette) Stokes; and her sister, Jen (Jim) Nerone, all of High Falls, NY; sister-in-law, Judy (Roy) Garvin, of Appleton; along with several nieces and nephews.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Emily Stokes; and sister, Katherine (Jerry) Davis.

A small private service was held at the Allenville Cemetery per her wishes. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers the family is encouraging donations in her memory be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at LBDA.org.

I have very fond memories of Peggy from High School as she was genuinely kind to all and joyful in the many activities in which she participated, She has my prayers for life on the other side.

Peg is already missed greatly. As a colleague, a friend, a mentor by example, a true crusader for children, Peg had a heart and soul for teaching that went deep. She made sure her students all had a chance to succeed and to "bloom where they were planted" as the saying goes. She cared for animals and took on the challenge and the cause for neutering feral cats so as to prevent disease and suffering of these creatures. She lovingly tended her horse/s. over many years. I'm happy to have known her humor, her joy in teaching, and her pleasure in being with friends at the hive. My heart goes out to her family.

So sorry to hear of Pegs passing. Peg was a wonderful mentor to me when I first began my teaching career and I’m not sure I would have stayed with the profession if it weren’t for our hilarious heartfelt talks. She was an excellent educator, wonderful role model, and an even more exceptional human being. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Paul Kelly
