Son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Jacob "Jake" Jeffery Russell Schmude, was officially recruited by the angels on Sunday, May 23, 2021. It's difficult to accept our loss, but we remain grateful for the time Jake spent on our team. For 35 years, since August 29, 1985, he charmed adults, children and a few very lucky pets with his gentle kindness, infectious smile and beautiful blue eyes.

Jake was an accomplished cook, first at Perkins and most recently at Ground Round, who loved music and the basketball court. He was “just fun to be around”, partly because he looked for and focused on the best in all of us. Jake was not materialistic, taking very little from this earth during his short time here, yet leaving an abundance of pleasant and entertaining memories (Ace Ventura, ha!). As the ultimate parting gift, Jake donated his organs and tissues to fellow human beings on waiting lists, and to research. Our loss becomes somebody else's life-saving fortune as Jake pays it forward.

Jake will shine down upon his mom, Barbara Jacob; his dad, Jeff Schmude (Carrie); his sisters, Rachel (Kyle) and Jacqueline (Jesse); his bro, Caleb; his nieces, nephew and his large extended family. With unified strength all will reluctantly let go, knowing it is time for Jake to share his charm with the heavenly angels.

Jake was preceded in death by, grandma, Shirley; grandpa, Russell, aunt, Lisa; and his four-legged pals Mac and Benny.

Rest in peace our dear, dear Jake.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A service will be held on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Aronson officiating.

Jake’s family wishes to thank the wonderful ER nurses at Mercy Medical Center and UW Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.

If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.
