Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Dorothy E. Eckstein, age 90, of Larsen, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Patriot Place Assisted Living in Berlin. She was born January 25, 1931, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the youngest child of Henry and Leona (Kass) Kohler. Dorothy was a graduate of Menasha High School. She was employed at Royale School Stationery in Neenah until her marriage. On February 7, 1953, Dorothy married Arden Eckstein. They built their lives together around their family farm in Larsen. Dorothy was a very driven woman and wore many hats in ensuring the happiness and success of her family and her 68-year marriage. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church-Winchester. Dorothy enjoyed baking and cooking, gardening, dancing to polkas and waltzes, listening to country music and spending time with her grandchildren. She was the light at every gathering, always providing a helping hand and putting others before herself.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Arden Eckstein; a son, Cary Eckstein; grandchildren, Carissa (Jeremy) Fritz, Catie (Chad) Emerson, Craig Eckstein, Kevin Eckstein, Hailey Eckstein, Dillon Eckstein; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kara, and Caelyn Fritz; Ashlyn, Ethan, and Aisley Emerson; sister-in-law, Ardys Seelow; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; a son, Scott Eckstein; daughter-in-law, Cindy Eckstein; her twelve siblings and their spouses, Edward and Eunice Kohler, Clara and Frank Tschirgi, Harold and Martha Kohler, Elmer and Dorothy Kohler, Violet and Robert Sauer, Henry and Elizabeth Kohler, George and Gloria Kohler, Robert and Esther Kohler, Earl and Virginia Kohler, Howard and Marian Kohler, Iola and Gayton Diehl, Mildred and Walter Ehlke; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Hattie Eckstein; in-laws, Arlin and Aimee Eckstein, Audrey and Alvin Thums, and James Seelow.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rebekah Tarras officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Cemetery.
