Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
James E. Reinert, age 83, of the town of Poygan, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Azura Memory Care in Oshkosh. He was born the 6th of 13 children on September 20, 1937, to the late Paul and Luella (Smith) Reinert on the family farm where he has farmed all of his life. On July 16, 1966, Jim married Julia “Julie” Mueller. In 1969 Jim and Julie bought the Reinert farm, dairy farming until 2008 and cash cropping since then. In 2011 the Reinert Farm was named a Century Farm.
From 1965 to 1966, Jim was the president of the Waukau Flying Mane Riding Club and was on the Board of Directors. From 1991 to 1993 he served as a town of Poygan supervisor. Jim enjoyed traveling around the area crop checking, attending horse pulls and having a beer at the Hill Tavern.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julie Reinert; brothers, Charles (Louise), William (Arlene), Robert (Cec); sisters-in-law, Elaine and Nell Reinert; many nieces and nephews; and fur friends, Smudge, Harley, Lucy, and Jo.
Along with his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by sisters, Ruth, Judy, Beverly, and Marion; brothers, Fritz, Rex, Kenneth, John, and Harold; a niece, Holly Reinert; and a nephew, Larry “Skeeter” Degner.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, August 21, 2021, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Poygan.
Julie would like to thank his caregivers that helped with Jim, Heather Kinnard, Visiting Angels. Justine Chiquito and her staff at Azura Memory Care and Aurora at Home Hospice, and his nurse Melinda that took such good care of him during his last days. I also want to thank my nephew Jeff Mueller for all he has done to help and support me during this difficult journey.

I had the absolute pleasure of taking care of Jim. Jim and I hit it off from the very start! I was so thrilled that I was able to give his wife and nephew a much needed break. I grew very close with the whole family. It really breaks my heart to hear about his passing but I really believe that he is in a better place now. I am so sorry for your loss and I'm here for you if you ever need anything!
