Douglas "Doug" B. Zarling, age 66, of Omro, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 29, 1946, in Oshkosh to Bernard and Mabel (Horne) Zarling. Doug was a 1964 graduate of Omro High School. On June 16, 1984, he married Lorna Smith in Minco, Oklahoma.
Doug, a life-long resident of the Omro area, operated a milk truck route and sold and serviced dairy equipment for many years until he returned to his love of trucking. He had a passion for his family, his Peterbilt, and restoring antique tractors.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Lorna; their children, Jeff, of Menasha; Danielle, of Eureka; Andrea (Rollie) Reinke, of Berlin; and Mark, of Omro; grandchildren, Derrick, Sheylynn, Brei, and Blayne. He is further survived by his brother, Don (Barbara) Zarling, and sisters, Doris (Leo) Esch, Jan Voss, Gloria (Mike) Coonen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Preceding Doug in death were his parents, and a sister, Barbara.
A funeral service for Doug will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, with Rev. Neil Wilson officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Rushford Cemetery.
Doug's family would like to thank Emily, Sierra, and Chaplain Laura from Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion during this trying time.
