Gladys (LaCosse) Kenders, 93, of Oshkosh, passed away March 8, 2013, at Park View Health Center with many friends and family nearby. She was a previous resident of Riverside Apartments in Winneconne. Gladys was born in Munising, MI on March 20, 1919, the 5th of 11 children of Joseph and Albina (Rivard) Rabitoy. She married Ervin LaCosse in 1939 in Stephenson, MI.
She graduated from Stephenson High School in Michigan and as an LPN from Kenosha Technical College.
Gladys was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne and the Christian Mothers of Poygan. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at hospitals in Berlin, Racine, and Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Gladys is survived by sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Fuller, of Houston, TX; and Regina LeClerc, of Ocala, FL; sons, Jerome (Carolyn) LaCosse, of Winneconne; and Duane (Sarah) LaCosse, of Roscoe, IL; daughters-in-law, Gerena LaCosse, of Bayou Vista, LA; Bertha LaCosse, of Sylacauga, AL; and Debb Hoagland, of Racine; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin LaCosse; son, Richard; one great-great-grandson, Eli Rolle; four brothers, and three sisters.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr., Winneconne, with Fr. Luke Ferris and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Stephenson Township Cemetery in Michigan. A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne.
Gladys enjoyed playing cards and travels. She had many friends at Riverside and Park View. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Park View for their kindness shown every day. Their friendships made her time more enjoyable. Sr. Pam and Sharon from St. Mary's Church gave her the religious life she always enjoyed. Thank you to all.

I will always remember my Aunt as a kind and caring person. She was gentle but strong. She did a wonderful job raising her three sons. I admire her for that. My thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.

I was blessed to know Aunt Gladys and so glad I was able to see her a few years ago at a reunion with all of her remaining sisters.
