Gary J. Noffke, age 65, of Poygan, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at his home. He was born April 14, 1947, in Neenah to the late Clarence and Lucille (Birling) Noffke. Gary was a 1965 graduate of Menasha High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. Gary operated the Herbst Landing Bait Shop on Lake Poygan. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting.
Gary is survived by his brothers and sisters, Wayne (Kelly), of Menasha; Lee (Nancy), of Land-O-Lakes; Pat (Tom) Makofski, of Menasha; Dan (Deb), of Omro; Kay Stuart, of Oshkosh; Nathan (special friend, Deb Hish), of Poygan; Bruce (Beth), of Poygan; Judy (Ron) Strebelinski, of Berlin; Tim (Kathy), of Larsen; Vaughn (Tami), of Poygan; Sheri Jo (Tom) Posselt; of Lakewood; sister-in-law, Barb Noffke, of Poygan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by one brother, Ron; a nephew, Darrin Noffke; and two nieces, Michelle Makofski and Vanessa Stuart.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne with Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Poygan, on Saturday, March 23. A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

I did not know Gary very well, but the times I stopped in and talked with him he was always kind and informative on where the fish were biting; and at times would offer me a beer. My prayers and condolences go out to his family. He will be missed.
