Marilyn LaNore Switzer, age 84, died Friday, May 3, 2013. She was born December 24, 1928, in Milwaukee to the late Arthur and Erna (Niebauer) Schulz. On May 7, 1949, Marilyn married Donald Switzer in Honolulu, Hawaii, and they made their home in Grafton. She was a homemaker and helped Don run their Del Trucking business. Upon their retirement in 1990, Marilyn and Don made their home in Winneconne.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Borth and was active in its Ladies Aid and Bible study. This year would have been Marilyn's 50th year as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and she was a current member of the Giles-Luce Unit 364, American Legion Auxiliary in Winneconne. Marilyn enjoyed her church, traveling with Don in the semi, reading, cross-stitch, word search, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Sandy (Ken) Hinkle, of Winneconne; Ronald Switzer, of Fond du Lac; Judith (Richard) Hannemann, of Fond du Lac; Wally Switzer, of Tampa, Florida; Susan (Terry) McBride, of Crivitz; daughter-in-law, Nancy Switzer, of Cedarburg; grandchildren, Donnie (Donna), Heather (Everett), Cassie (Ben), Kristine, Ronald Jr., Danielle (Daniel), Ashley, Victoria, Tyler, and Lee; great-grandchildren, Derek, Taryn, Shelby, Willa, Danica, and Jackson; step-grandchildren, Sally Hinkle and John Hinkle; step-great-grandchildren, Eion and JoJo; a sister-in-law, Neida; and other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Marilyn was also preceded in death by her husband Don, in 1996; a son, Michael Switzer, in 2012; one brother, Walter Schulz; and a nephew, Art Schulz.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, with Pastor Brian Beardsley officiating. Burial will be on Friday May 10 at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
