Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Elda E. Nachtrab, age 94, went to her heavenly home on May 11, 2013, at Kindred Hearts in Clintonville. She was born in the town of Freedom, on October 4, 1918, to Julius and Ella (Radtke) Schulke. Elda was baptized and confirmed at St Peter's Lutheran Church in Freedom. On April 15, 1941, she married Joseph Nachtrab at Martin Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, and they were blessed with two sons and one daughter. The couple farmed in the town of Nekimi until 1951 when the purchased a farm in the town of Poygan, where they lived until Joe's death in 2000. For many years Elda did seasonal work for Green Giant Canning Company and Miles Kimble. In 2006 she moved to New London to be closer to her children, and for the past three years she was a resident at Kindred Hearts in Clintonville.
Elda was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Winneconne. She was a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother who daily read her devotions. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Elda was an excellent cook and her family will always remember the homemade bread and cookies she baked for them.
Elda is survived by her children, Richard (Gloria) Nachtrab, Edgar; Leslie (Phyllis) Nachtrab, Marion; Lois (Wayne) Hoffman, Weyauwega; fourteen grandchildren, Kathy (Blair) Sawall, Steven (Lisa) Nachtrab, Vicki (Daniel) Klemp, all of Clintonville; Ronald (Christy) Nachtrab, Marion; Christine (Russell) Jack, Waukesha; Sheila (Jason) McPeak, Key Largo, FL; Thomas (Jennifer) Hoffman, Brookfield; John (Connie) Hoffman, Waupaca; Jeffrey Hoffman, Cameron, NC; Calvin (Traci) Nachtrab, Louisburg, NC; Douglas and Victor Nachtrab, Wausau; Marcia Nachtrab, Neenah; Stephanie Nachtrab, Oshkosh; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; sister, Hallie Reichenberger, Oshkosh; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded by a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys (Earl) Kunde; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward (Irene) Schulke, Julius (Mary) Schulke, Lawrence (Marcella) Schulke; brothers, Robert and William Schulke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard (Ruth) Bauer, Frank (Rosemary) Nachtrab, Lyle Braatz, Frances Nachtrab; and granddaughter, Janet Nachtrab.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne, with Pastor Mark Albrecht and Pastor John Covach officiating. Burial will be in the Omro Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
