Daniel Kromm, age 92, of Omro, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born July 13, 1921, in Fond du Lac to the late Peter and Elizabeth (Goerlitz) Kromm. Dan was a 1939 graduate of Oshkosh High School. On June 21, 1947, he married Beverly Berger. Dan had worked for the Paine Lumber Company, and he farmed for many years until his retirement. Along with farming, Dan loved hunting, bird watching, and photography, which he had won awards for. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro.
Dan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly Kromm, of Omro; one sister, Pauline Frasch, of Manitowoc; three children, Dan G. (Lynn) Kromm, of Omro; Edward (Julie) Kromm, of Omro; Kathleen (Randy) Crawford, of Milwaukee; his grandchildren, Autumn (David) Reiter, of Moyock, North Carolina; Hannah (Paul) Scheppf, of Hermitage, Tennessee; Caleb Kromm, of Appleton; Stephanie (Eric) Hawkins, of Oshkosh; Kari (Brad) Bathke, of Oshkosh; Nicholas Kromm, of Omro; Laura Kromm, of Omro; James Crawford, of Milwaukee; and Jeff (Jennifer) Crawford, of Milwaukee; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Madison, Logan, Reagan, and Payton Reiter, of Moyock, North Carolina; Chase Scheppf, of Hermitage, Tennessee; Jackson Hawkins, of Oshkosh; Matthew and Andrew Crawford, of Milwaukee; and former daughter-in-law, Anne (Jim) Landreth; and many other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Dan was also preceded in death by one daughter, Ramona Melanie Kromm; brothers and sisters, David J. Kromm, Marie Ryckman, Henry Kromm, George Kromm, Peter Kromm, Elizabeth Koch, John Kromm, Alex Kromm, and Katherine Kromm.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave. Omro, with Pastor Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, July 31 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. AT THE CHURCH, and will continue on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Dan's family wishes to thank the staff of Affinity Visiting Nurses and the staff and chaplains at Mercy Medical Center for all of the support and care given to him.
