Marlin "Babe" A. Tonn, 88, of Winneconne, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Northpoint Medical and Rehab in Oshkosh. He was born Feb. 6, 1925, the son of Frank and Olive (Stecker) Tonn of Winneconne.
Babe served in World War II in the Army as an MP. He married Lois Sim on December 2, 1950, and is survived by two daughters, Marla Tonn, Oshkosh; and Jody Tonn, Oshkosh; a granddaughter, Delaney Reardon, of Menasha. He is also survived by nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by Lois, who passed on their 60th wedding anniversary in 2010; three brothers, Levi, Frank, and Harvey; and a sister, Adalaide Humphrey.
Babe and Lois owned Tonn's Resort on the river in Winneconne for many years and he could usually be seen fishing for walleye under the Winneconne bridge.
A memorial service will be planned later in the year. The family would like to thank the staffs of Northpoint, Mercy Medical Center, and Affinity Hospice for their care in easing his last years and his passing.
