Margaret V. (Ticks) Roland, age 96, of Winneconne, died Thursday, January 16, 2014, at home. She was born February 22, 1917, in the town of Lebanon, Waupaca County to the late Henry and Meta (Ziechert) Ticks. Margaret was baptized, confirmed, and married at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. On January 24, 1940, Margaret married Reinhold Roland and they farmed in various locales until moving to Winneconne in 1952, where they continued farming until retiring in 1985. She loved to sew and garden. Margaret was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne, where she served as treasurer of the Ladies Aid for many years.
Margaret is survived by one son, David (Gladys) Roland, of Winneconne; one daughter, Joanne (Roger) Haemmerle, of Deming, New Mexico; grandsons, Mike (Deb) Haemmerle, of Omro; Thomas (Linda) Roland, of Neenah; Charles (Kelly) Roland, of Winneconne; Steven (Teresa) Roland, of Oshkosh; great-grandchildren, Allen (Kristy) Haemmerle, Amanda (Jason) Dodd, Stephanie, Bryce, Sarah, and Emily Roland; great-great-grandchildren, Arial and Diesel Haemmerle, Grace and Jordan Dodd; step-grandchildren, Lynnette Haemmerle (friend, Edward Cody), Scott Haemmerle; step-great-grandchildren, Rene Rebeck, Sheree (Matt) Meschefske, Amanda Gardner (friend, Jack); step-great-great-grandchild, Joshua Rebeck; sisters, Beatrice Buchholtz, of New London; Ruth (Jim) Simons, of Sheboygan; sister-in-law, Arlene Roland, of New London; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Along with her parents, Margaret was also preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold on May 2, 2001; four brothers, Harvey, Vernon, Harold, and Arnold Ticks; and two sisters, Erna Klabunde, and Bernice Boelter.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, January 20, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Monday at the church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Covach and Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
