Arline E. Meier, 88, of Oshkosh, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at her home. She was born July 17, 1925, in Milwaukee to the late Howard and Irene (Ponik) Schmidt. Just after finishing high school, Arline started working as a secretary at Square D and she proudly worked there for many years until her retirement. On September 7, 1946, she married LeRoy Meier and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1983. Arline then moved to Oshkosh and on March 8, 1997, she married Thomas Schnuck. Tom preceded Arline in death on July 17, 2006. Arline enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Lake Poygan and traveling. She was a witty individual who loved life, and her real passion was for animals, especially dogs (Buddy and Gracie), which were very dear to her. Arline was a member of Living Water Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
Surviving Arline are Tom's son and daughter, Michael Schnuck, and Mary Schnuck; a sister-in-law, Linda Schmidt; and she will be dearly missed by her close friends, especially Susie Leib and Mary Ellen Salzsieder and their families.
Along with her parents and husbands, Arline was also preceded in death by her brother, Howard Schmidt.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Living Water Lutheran Church, 1585 S. Oakwood Rd. Oshkosh. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Pastor John Dorn officiating. Inurnment will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee at a later date.
