On September 24, 2021, our beloved father, William Van Dyke Sr., lost his courageous battle with multiple long-standing illnesses with his family at his bedside. Bill was born on September 23, 1944, to Robert Clayton and Gertrude (Micke) Van Dyke. Bill grew up in Kaukauna, graduating in 1962 from Kaukauna High School. He spent his early years, developing his strong work ethic, working for his father at the Vaudette Theater in Kaukauna. Bill was a true patriot and served in the U.S. Air Force, 1963-1969. Bill was full of pride to serve his country and while stationed in Germany, he worked as a Pharmacy Technician.

On St. Patrick’s Day in 1972 he met and immediately fell in love with JoAnn Schroeder. They got married on October 27, 1972, and spent their early married years in Kaukauna. They eventually moved to Omro and then made Winneconne their home while raising their four sons. While working for Precast Concrete Specialties, Bill and his family moved to assist in the company’s expansion to Casa Grande, Arizona. After their youngest children were out of school, Bill and his family moved back to Oshkosh and Bill earned his Associate Degree as a Pharmacy Tech from LTC. He then worked in a local pharmacy until his retirement.

Bill would always state his greatest achievement, joy and passion were his children and grandchildren. He loved being a father and grandfather and took great satisfaction watching his children grow up to become wonderful parents. Bill loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sporting events and activities. Professional sports, especially Packers, Badgers, and Bucks games were always on his tv. In addition to sports, Bill loved the outdoors whether it be deer hunting, trap shooting, or anything spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his children, Dean (Jacque) Van Dyke, Rob (Jenny) Van Dyke, Eric (Michelle) Van Dyke, Kristin Wittman, Julie Prock; his 12 grandchildren, Nick Jr. (Skye), Trevor, Gunnar, Alise, Ethan, Molly, Tierney, Tanor, Garrett, Hannah (Aaron), Rachel, and Shayne; his siblings, sister, Nancy (Gerry Coenen); brother, Bob Van Dyke (Gary Lange); numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Bill is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, JoAnn; their oldest son, Nick Sr.; his parents; a brother, Don Van Dyke; and special companion, Bella.

Bill’s legacy and sense of humor will live on in all the lives and hearts he has touched.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A service will be held on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rose Unser officiating. Military honors will follow.

If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sami told me her godfather played a huge role in her and Connor's childhood. I am happy to know Sami and Connor and the amazing people they have become. Thinking of you and your family. <3 - Shannon
