Victoria M. (Wagen) Wentzel, age 101, of Winneconne, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was born May 24, 1912, in the town of Poygan to the late Robert and Agnes (Bersch) Wagen. On November 7, 1932, Vickie married Clarence Wentzel, and she helped him run an insurance business for 50 years, and together they owned and operated Pinecrest Cottages in Winneconne for 32 years. Clarence preceded Vickie in death on November 24, 1993.
For many years she was a member of the Poygan Homemakers, the Arrowhead bowling team, and the Pleasure Card Club. Vickie was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne, and its Ladies Aid. She loved playing cards and Scrabble and her family wishes to thank all of her many good friends and family members she played with; she truly enjoyed it so much.
Surviving Vickie are her two children, Robert (Donna) Wentzel, Gail (Ray) Schwandner; grandchildren, Sally (Paul) Bellile, Kathy Prader, Sharon (Jim) DeGroot, and Kim (Dave) Mours; great-grandchildren, Steve DeGroot, Erin Prader, and Matthew Prader; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Along with parents and husband, Vickie was also preceded in death by one sister, Gladyce Remer.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht and Pastor John Covach officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, town of Poygan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church.
Vickie's family would like to thank: the Sterling House staff for all of their thoughtfulness and kindness; and the Aurora Health Care staff.

Deepest sympathy to your family. Both Clarence and Vickie were great people, and your family was so blessed to have them for so many years. The world needs more people like them.

Loren and I send our sympathies to you at this time. Vickie was a wonderful lady and we will always remember her fondly. She had great faith in God and that was readily apparent in her life.

Vickie was a lovely lady. I remember staying at Pinecrest Resort as a kid and receiving such a warm welcome from both she and Clarence. Great people!
