Eugene Allen Sobiech, age 67, of Winneconne, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton surrounded by family. He was born on July 1, 1954, to the late Lawrence and Dolores (Schockmel) Sobiech and was farm raised in the St. Anna area. On July 3, 1982, he married Gail Scheuers. For 40 years Eugene worked for the state of Wisconsin, most of those years at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh campus. Gene took pride in his work there and developed many friendships among the students and his coworkers. As an avid Packer backer, he enjoyed many games with his family (they beat the Cardinals just for you Gene!). He was involved in tractor clubs, was a lifelong radio control plane enthusiast, and loved watching his hummingbirds. Gene was always ready to lend a helping hand, making the world a friendlier place one person at a time. His Lord and savior being utmost in his life.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gail; two sons, Paul of Madison, and Joseph (Sarah) of Neenah; his daughter, Quincy (Jeremy) of Winneconne; and his beloved grandchildren, Luke and Laykin; his mother, Leona Sobiech of New Holstein; his siblings, Marvin (Judy) Sobiech of New Holstein, Mary Ann (James) Payne of Sheboygan Falls, Marlene (Jack) Sobiech of Newton, Richard (Lisa) Sobiech of Kiel, Karen (Francis) Raddatz of Chilton, Francis (Sasha) of New Holstein, and Tony Sobiech of New Holstein; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in -law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. He will be greatly missed by all, including by his loyal cat, Link, who is still looking for him to come home.

Much gratitude to the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital 2nd floor who so diligently cared for him.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday November 4, 2021, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, with a service to follow at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.

Thank you to all of Gene's family and friends for the outpouring of comfort to his family.

If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.
