Lawrence “Larry” R. Carley, age 89, of Oshkosh passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh on Saturday, December 11, 2021. He was born January 28, 1932, in Berlin, Wisconsin to Arden and Kathryn (Guenther) Carley. Lawrence attended Bell Grade School in rural Omro and Omro High School, where he was involved in choir, drama, FFA, graduating in 1949. He was an active member of the B-Square 4-H Club.

Lawrence lived most of his life in the town of Rushford on the family farm. In 1999 he had a new home built in rural Omro where he lived until moving to Oshkosh to live at the Arborview Manor.

For 23 years he was employed by the Duo-Safety Ladder Corp. in Oshkosh. Larry was a founding member of Messiah Lutheran Church ELS, Omro.

He enjoyed motor coach travel, birds, was fond of anything with eagles, photography, flower gardens and all things in nature. Larry was a woodcarver of miniature birds and won numerous awards. After moving to Oshkosh, he took up woodburning pictures and other crafts.

He is survived by one sister, Carol (Everett) Eckstein, of Wild Rose; two nephews, Shawn (Heather) Eckstein, of Reedsville; Todd (Lorraine) Eckstein, of Olympia, Washington; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Lawrence in death were his parents, Arden and Kathryn Carley; and a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Kent Treleven.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church 7394 Liberty School Rd. Eureka (corner of Liberty School Rd. and Cty Rd. F). A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Phillip Geiger officiating. Burial will follow in the Eureka Cemetery. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.
