James J. Plummer, age 89, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. Jim was born March 19, 1925, in Oshkosh, the first son of the late Earl and Mary (Schuster) Plummer. He was a graduate of the one-room Skeleton Bridge School, which his brother Bob has fully restored, and Oshkosh High School, June class of 1943. In December of 1943, Jim enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Force, serving 2 ½ years during World War II. After discharge, Jim was employed at Courtney & Plummer Inc. in Neenah of which he was part owner. After 43 years of employment he retired in June of 1987. On June 14, 1947, he married Ann Maria Sexton at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville. Jim and Ann enjoyed their home in the Town of Oshkosh their entire wonderful 51 years of marriage. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Being an avid boater he and family and friends spent many joyful hours on the Valley Queen Stern wheel houseboat plying local waters and was always proud of the many friends he made along those waterways. Each year for over 40 years, loving real country music, he made a trip to Nashville's Grand Ole Opry and Renfro Valley, Kentucky to enjoy the music played there. Over the years the people who put on the shows became wonderful friends.
Jim is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ruth Plummer, of Howards Grove; three grandsons, Matthew, Nathaniel, and Russell Plummer; two brothers and two four sisters-in-law, William and Carol Plummer, Robert and Bonnie Plummer, Verla Plummer, and Fran Plummer, all of Winneconne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Mike and Jane Lichtenwald.
Along with his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann, on November 19, 1998; two brothers, Charles and Tom; a nephew, Ned Plummer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a very special friend, Pearl.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Peter Worship Site) 435 High Ave. Oshkosh. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Jim Jugenheimer officiating. Burial will follow in the Plummer Cemetery, Oshkosh.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Jim's family and friends would like to thank Dr. Radford, Dr. Baughman, and the staffs of Mercy Medical Center and Park View Health Center for all of the care given to him.

I am so honored to have had my Uncle Jimmy in my life. That laugh! The open arms and sincere delight in seeing each of us when ever we stopped by. In a family of big personalities he was the steady quiet appreciator of the soulful pursuits, music, travel, friendship and the beautiful lake we looked out on every day. His beloved boat, The River Queen, was like another member of the family. Jimmy's kind heart offers such a great roll model to my family and we will remember him with deep love and respect always.

Uncle Jimmy may have been my strongest connection to my childhood memories of walks to Nickels Dr. and family Christmases. He always made us kids feel special, and then when we had children of our own, he welcomed them with an open heart too. He loved Aunt Ann so much and then was fortunate enough to find wonderful companionship with Pearl. We will miss him. Beth

My heart and prayers goes out to the family and friends of "Jimmy" Plummer. Jimmy and I hit it off so well because we had a lot in common with mechnics and his house boat. He was always kind and funny, and I loved his unusual laugh. It was fun working on his boat with him and I knew it was special to him and his loved ones. I also remember the 1947 "Sweet Jeep" that he also had his hands on. He will be missed by many people and also by our family, sorry for your loss, The Rothe Family.

My heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and caregivers of Jim Plummer. I know I will miss him dearly. I met Jim over 20 years ago while working in a dental office. He was a long standing patient. I was also blessed to meet and know his wife Ann. Jim was one of the nicest, kindest, gentle soul human beings I have ever met. I will miss his stories of his his adventures to the Grand Ole Opry. I will miss his very positive outlook on life in general. Jim Plummer was to me a very spiritual person that truly touched my life. He made this world a better place. I will miss his big belly laughs. I am grateful to have known him and will miss him.
