Luella Mueller, age 98, of Winneconne, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at home with her family by her side. She was born November 4, 1915, in Grafton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Paul and Martha (Keller) Meyer. She was baptized on November 14, 1915, and confirmed May 24, 1929, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Grafton. On November 25, 1937, Luella married Clarence Mueller at St. Paul's Church, Grafton, and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1987.
Lu was a 1933 graduate of Grafton High School and the Wisconsin Commercial Academy in Milwaukee in 1935. She was secretary at Slocum Straw Works and later at Trade Press Publishing Co. in Milwaukee.
Luella came to Winneconne in December of 1944 where she and her husband owned and operated Mueller Furniture and Floor Covering and Funeral Home, semi-retiring in 1975.
Lu was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne where she attended Bible classes, served as vice-president of Ladies Aid, and volunteered whenever needed. She served as president of the Winneconne Civic League for two terms, and was a member of Organization of Wisconsin Lutheran Seniors (OWLS). While residing in Florida during the winter months, she helped establish and was a charter member of the New Life Ev. Lutheran Church in Sebring.
Luella loved spending time with her family, cooking, crafting, and rooting for the Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, and Packers. She will always be remembered for having the heart of a servant.
Luella is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle and Nancy Mueller, of The Villages, Florida; Ron and Micki Mueller, of Winneconne; Ken and Mary Mueller, of Winneconne; seven grandchildren, Peter Mueller, Beth and Jon Danielson, Robin and Jeff Brooks, Julie and Kelly Angell, Matt and Becky Mueller, Mike and Beth Mueller, Andrew and Tracy Mueller; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Audrey Mueller, of Winneconne; and other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Luella was also preceded in death by a grandson, Dean Mueller; two brothers, Elmer and Alfred Meyer; and one sister, Clara Brockman.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, October 26, 2014, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Monday, October 27 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Ben Berger officiating. Burial will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
Luella's family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice for all of the support and care given to her.
